Your tutor and contact details

Lessons and prices
One-to-one lessons with Burnie are online using Google Meet, or in person at the student's home around Lincoln. The school-year range is Year 7 through Year 13, including students who turn 18. A parent/carer arranges tuition; independent adult self-booking is outside this offer.
Each lesson is one hour. Full prices, the same online and in person, are:
- KS3 Science: £32.
- GCSE Science: £38.
- A-Level Biology: £45.
There are no routine extras, registration fee, separate deposit or minimum commitment. Any different individually agreed service or price must be agreed before booking; existing agreements are not repriced by changing this page. A scheduling buffer is not paid teaching time. Tutoring supports learning but cannot guarantee a grade or exam result.
Before an under-18 student's first lesson, provide one parent/emergency contact phone number. For an under-18 home lesson, a responsible adult arranged by the family must remain in the home throughout; they need not sit in the lesson room. Burnie herself does not satisfy that family-adult requirement. It does not automatically apply to online lessons or students aged 18.
Booking and your agreement
For new first tuition, Google reserves a time. That reservation or Google's email alone is not the ongoing tuition agreement. The agreement starts at your final on-site confirmation of the exact learner, service, price and terms. You can review the details first; contact Burnie to correct them or arrange another time. New bookings need at least 24 hours' notice.
Your ongoing agreement covers regular lessons until ended. Later appointments or bills do not automatically start another agreement or a fresh cooling-off period. You can save an unchanged, personally addressed confirmation with the agreed documents and early-start choice before teaching begins. These terms and confirmation are in English. Existing families' agreements are not retrospectively replaced.
Payments
Payment is by bank transfer only, using the supplied instructions. Each lesson is payable no later than 24 hours before its start; at the exact 24-hour booking boundary payment is due immediately. No deadline already passed is imposed by accepting a new offer. If timing no longer works, contact Burnie for a later first lesson.
Burnie checks the bank and contacts the parent if payment is unconfirmed; an unrecorded receipt does not automatically cancel a lesson. No automatic late-payment penalty, card charge, direct debit or bank refund is made by the portal. An eligible first fully paid bill permits a separate admin activation of its parent and billed student, not siblings automatically.
Changing one lesson
With 24 hours' notice or more, including exactly 24 hours, cancellation or rescheduling is free. Parents can cancel an eligible linked appointment in the portal. Rescheduling remains in Google or through Burnie; a new time must be available and agreed.
For less notice or a missed lesson, contact Burnie. She reviews actual loss individually, capped at the lesson price and reduced if the slot is filled. Genuine illness/emergencies waive that charge; no medical documents are needed. A late student normally keeps the scheduled finish and normal price, subject to the same illness/emergency handling.
Cancelling one occurrence does not end all tuition or transfer a refund. An uncertain or unavailable control does not prevent you contacting Burnie.
Statutory cancellation rights
For applicable distance/off-premises agreements, cancellation is allowed without a reason until the end of 14 days after the agreement day. Tell Burnie clearly before the deadline; the supplied model form is optional. No active account or permission is needed. The ordinary 24-hour lesson rule does not override this right.
Teaching within that period needs your express early-start request. If you cancel, a proportionate charge for teaching actually supplied is possible only where the required request/information were obtained. The first lesson does not complete this ongoing agreement or remove the remaining right. Extended rights where information was missing remain unaffected.
Statutory refunds are made without undue delay and within the applicable 14-day limit, normally by the original payment method. An online statutory cancellation is acknowledged in a form you can keep. Trading Standards guidance.
Ending tuition and refunds
There is no minimum commitment. The ordinary 48-hour notice starts when you send your email, portal message or text, or tell Burnie by phone—not when she reads or acknowledges it. Burnie records verbal notices. Statutory cancellation is separate and is not delayed by that notice.
All future lessons under the tuition you are ending are cancelled without charge, including inside the notice period or 24 hours. Their unused payments are refunded by bank transfer; past delivered lessons and financial history are not reversed. There is no termination fee or compulsory credit. Burnie's normal target is to issue eligible refunds within 7 calendar days of the refund becoming due—for example, when a paid future lesson is cancelled—not a later admin approval. Legal deadlines take priority. This target concerns issuing the refund, not guaranteed bank settlement.
If Burnie cancels, you choose an agreed replacement or refund. If online technical problems lose teaching time, regardless of whose connection failed, you choose replacement time without extra charge or a proportionate refund. If Burnie is late, missed time is made up only by agreement; otherwise the same remedy choice applies. A bank refund record is not the transfer itself.
Accounts, work and optional recording
Keep credentials private. Students use managed usernames/passwords, not personal recovery inboxes. Use the portal for permitted learning work; do not share passwords, abusive/unlawful material or files you have no right to redistribute. Your own work is not licensed to us for advertising by these terms.
Shared conversations are visible to the linked student, parent, assigned tutor and authorised admins. Parent-only threads exclude the student. A newly assigned tutor can see earlier teaching conversations. Author-private notes are not displayed to families; lawful information requests are assessed separately. The portal is not an emergency service.
Recording and saved Google Meet transcripts/Gemini notes/summaries are optional and separate from tuition acceptance. Each parent and student makes their own choices. Saved AI notes require both current Recording and AI agreements; Recording does not require AI. Refusal does not change the lesson or price. Burnie asks at call start and manually controls Meet; website icons do not start or stop capture. Ask Gemini is a separate live-meeting assistant that can analyse the conversation and keep prompts/responses in conversation history. Burnie explains and checks participants agree separately, and turns it off for the call if anyone refuses. Existing-copy rights, manual Google handling and the ordinary12-month recording retention rule are explained in the Privacy notice; withdrawing a choice does not automatically delete Google files.
Complaints and legal rights
Contact Burnie using the details above, identifying the issue and requested remedy. She considers complaints fairly; Rob provides privacy/complaint backup. Nothing excludes mandatory consumer rights, reasonable care and skill, or liability which cannot legally be excluded. Mandatory remedies are not replaced by our ordinary cancellation rule. Existing commitments cannot be changed just by replacing this page. Consumer Rights Act services/remedies.
